The Music Writer’s Lab is returning in March 2026, taking place on Kaurna Country for its second edition in South Australia, supported by Music Australia, WOMADelaide and the VMDO.

Emerging writers are encouraged to apply for the program, where they will be invited to Adelaide to participate in a series of professional mentorship sessions with established music journalists against the backdrop of Australia’s largest international music and arts festival: WOMADelaide.

Across dedicated mentoring sessions, participants will learn key skills and develop unique content while engaging in discussions surrounding relevant and poignant topics during a workshop day taking place Thursday 5 March.

They will also attend WOMADelaide as part of this program, creating original features under the guidance of their mentors.

Each participant in The Music Writer’s Lab will receive an honorarium as part of their commitment to the program, which will compensate for their preparation and assist travel/accommodation costs.
