The Music Writer’s Lab is back at BIGSOUND 2023.
A selected group of emerging writers participate in a mentor program, where they will connect and work with three established Australian music journalists and industry figures.
Across these mentoring sessions, the mentees will learn key skills and develop unique content while engaging in discussions surrounding relevant and poignant topics through an accompanying presentation series.
Using the BIGSOUND music festival and conference, as well as their mentoring sessions as inspiration, the emerging writers will create unique pieces of content (whether it be live review, artist profile or industry op-ed feature), that will live online with a publishing partner of The Music Writer’s Lab.
The public program includes an industry-facing “in-conversation” panel as part of the BIGSOUND program.
Each participant in The Music Writer’s Lab will receive an honorarium as part of their commitment to the program, which will compensate for their preparation and assist travel/accommodation costs.
